ve Sinem 2
The “ve Sinem” series continues with the new adventures of the characters we became acquainted with in the first book. This volume, comprising stories written and illustrated between 2012 and 2014, provides us with the opportunity to observe our heroes’ attitudes towards social events more closely. The sociopolitical upheavals of the period in Turkey, such as the Gezi Park protests, the ideological confusion of the middle class, and the characters’ profoundly superficial approaches, reflect the scenes of daily life in the stories.
We witness Alper’s efforts to combine his love for bodybuilding with patriotism, Utku and Özcan’s political readings based on a few families who supposedly rule the world, Engin and Ebru’s attempts to stay in a safe zone with their activism, Sinem’s father, a retired soldier, imposing a revolutionary mission on the youth, and other ludicrous behaviors of the characters influenced by the conditions of the time, showcasing the tragicomic situations their personalities lead them into.
